AirMax HVLS Fan

AT A GLANCE

What does HVLS mean?

HVLS stands for High Volume Low Speed. An HVLS fan uses large blades rotating relatively slowly to move a high volume of air across a wide area.

The AirMax range is available in four published diameters: 4.0 m, 5.0 m, 6.0 m and 7.3 m.

Published approximate coverage ranges from 800 m² for AirMax 400 to 2,325 m² for AirMax 730. Actual coverage depends on mounting height, building layout, structure and obstructions.

The published approximate installation-height range is 5–24 metres. Final mounting height must be determined as part of the project specification.

Yes. AirMax can operate slowly for destratification, helping redistribute warm air trapped near roof level towards the occupied area.

The current published specifications show 200–480 V, three-phase, 50/60 Hz across all four AirMax models.

AirMax INDUSTRIAL HVLS FANS

AirMax is MegaFan’s industrial High Volume Low Speed fan range, engineered for large buildings with high ceilings and extensive open floor areas.

Available in four diameters from 4.0 metres to 7.3 metres, AirMax moves large volumes of air slowly and efficiently across warehouses, factories, distribution centres, sports facilities and agricultural buildings.

The range combines wide-area airflow with efficient year-round operation, helping improve comfort during warmer conditions and redistribute trapped warm air through winter destratification.

Site Survey & System Design

Selecting AirMax Is More Than Choosing the Largest Model

A suitable AirMax system should account for the building, structure, occupied areas, services and control requirements before fan positions are confirmed.

Building length, width and height
Required installation height
Roof and supporting structure
Racking and machinery
Lighting, heating and ventilation
Cranes and suspended equipment
Occupied working areas
Doors and loading bays
Existing heating systems
Electrical supply
Controller and automation level
Fire alarm and BMS requirements
Correct system design matters. Fan diameter is only one part of the specification. Position, mounting height, building layout and surrounding obstructions all influence the final AirMax system design.

Engineered Airflow Across the Entire Space

The 7.3 m AirMax 730 is designed to draw air from above the fan and drive a large volume of air down towards floor level, where it spreads outwards across the building.

The airflow pattern shown demonstrates how air velocity remains measurable well beyond the fan itself, helping create broad, consistent circulation rather than concentrating airflow directly underneath the blades.

4.19 m/s — Outflow air speed at approximately 3.05 m from the fan centre
2.64 m/s — At approximately 6.10 m
1.42 m/s — At approximately 12.19 m
0.76 m/s — Still measurable at approximately 30.48 m

This wide airflow pattern helps AirMax circulate air throughout large warehouses, factories, agricultural buildings and other high-volume spaces.

Measured example: AirMax 730, 7.3 m diameter. Air speeds shown are averages and actual performance may vary depending on installation and site conditions.

AirMax Range

Fan Sizes

AirMax is available in four fan diameters. The correct model depends on the required airflow, coverage, mounting height, building geometry, structure and surrounding obstructions.

AirMax 400 4.0 m
148,266 mÂł/h Maximum airflow
800 m² Approximate coverage
95 rpm Maximum speed
102 kg Fan weight
AirMax 500 5.0 m
230,394 mÂł/h Maximum airflow
1,250 m² Approximate coverage
80 rpm Maximum speed
119 kg Fan weight
AirMax 600 6.0 m
334,878 mÂł/h Maximum airflow
1,800 m² Approximate coverage
60 rpm Maximum speed
134 kg Fan weight
Choosing the correct fan: Fan size should not be selected on diameter alone. Final selection should consider building dimensions, installation height, structure, obstructions and the required airflow and coverage.
