Livestock Building AirFlow

Improve Airflow, Animal Comfort and Conditions Across Your Livestock Buildings

Livestock buildings can be challenging environments for effective air movement. Large roof spaces, animal housing, feed areas, machinery, partitions and enclosed zones can all contribute to uneven airflow, trapped heat, humidity and stagnant air.

MegaFan AirMax HVLS fans are designed to move very large volumes of air at relatively low speed, helping create more consistent airflow throughout occupied livestock areas. As part of a properly designed ventilation strategy, AirMax can help manage heat, improve air distribution and assist with the movement of humidity, ammonia, airborne dust and stale air.

The system can be designed around dairy barns, cattle sheds, cubicle housing, pig buildings, poultry houses, livestock sheds, feed areas, collecting yards and other agricultural buildings, with fan size, quantity and positioning selected around building height, layout, animal zones, obstructions and existing ventilation.

AirMax For Livestock Buildings

Engineered For Livestock Buildings

AirMax is designed to move large volumes of air through livestock buildings, helping create more consistent conditions for animals and the people working around them.

âś“ 01

Help Reduce Heat Stress

Moves large volumes of air across occupied livestock areas, helping animals feel cooler during warmer conditions.

âś“ 02

Improve Air Movement

Helps reduce stagnant-air zones and improve circulation through animal housing, feeding and resting areas.

âś“ 03

Support Air Quality

As part of a suitable ventilation strategy, improved air movement can help disperse humidity, ammonia, airborne dust and stale air.

âś“ 04

Support Livestock Comfort

More even airflow can help create more comfortable conditions across cattle, pig, poultry and other livestock buildings.

âś“ 05

Quiet, Low-Speed Airflow

AirMax moves air at relatively low speed, providing broad, consistent circulation without harsh high-speed airflow.

âś“ 06

Built For Livestock Environments

Robust construction, IP65 protection and gearless motor technology make AirMax suitable for demanding agricultural environments.

Every livestock building is different. Animal housing layout, ceiling height, pens, feed barriers, partitions, open sides, equipment and existing ventilation should all be considered when selecting fan size, quantity and positioning.

LIVESTOCK FAQ's

What does HVLS mean?

HVLS stands for High Volume Low Speed. An HVLS fan uses large blades rotating relatively slowly to move a high volume of air across a wide area.

MegaFan airflow solutions can be used in a wide range of livestock environments, including dairy barns, cattle sheds, beef housing, pig buildings, poultry houses, cubicle housing, feed areas, collecting yards and other agricultural buildings.

Better air movement can help reduce stagnant-air zones, disperse trapped heat and create more consistent conditions throughout animal housing and working areas.

Yes. Increased air movement can help animals feel cooler during warmer conditions by improving air movement across occupied areas. The final system should always be designed around the building, animal zones and existing ventilation.

Air movement can help disperse humidity, ammonia, airborne dust and stale air as part of a properly designed ventilation strategy. Where actual fresh-air exchange is required, products such as AirWall can also be incorporated.

That depends on the building. AirMax is suited to large livestock buildings, AirSlim to lower-height areas, AirBeam to targeted zones such as feed lanes and handling areas, and AirWall to fresh-air supply and stale-air extraction.

Yes. HVLS fans can operate in reverse/destratification mode to help bring warm air trapped at roof level back towards occupied areas, helping create a more even temperature through the building.

Yes. MegaFan systems can be designed to work alongside existing natural or mechanical ventilation. Building openings, extraction systems, fresh-air inlets and existing airflow should all be considered during system design.

Yes. AirSlim is specifically designed as a lower-profile HVLS option for buildings where a larger AirMax installation is not required. AirSlim is intended for installation heights typically up to around 8 metres.

Yes. AirBeam is designed to deliver concentrated directional airflow into specific zones such as feed lanes, livestock handling areas, service aisles and occupied work zones, with published airflow projection of up to 27 metres.

Yes. AirMax, AirWall and AirBeam can work with MegaFan’s Smart HVLS Controller, which can manage up to 20 compatible devices and supports automatic summer cooling, winter destratification, temperature sensors, occupancy scheduling and BMS integration.

Yes. MegaFan can provide the complete process, including site assessment, airflow design, fan selection, structural and electrical planning, installation, control setup, commissioning and ongoing maintenance.
